THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
On June 5, 2024, Kasey Hollis (DOB: 8/6/1993), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, for the offense of Criminal Sexual Abuse, a class 4 felony.
During the contested sentencing hearing, Judge Robert McIntire heard evidence from the State that in May of 2023, Kasey Hollis forcibly touched the sex organ of a fellow employee. The victim wrote an impact statement which was presented at the sentencing hearing. In it she stated, “After being sexually assaulted, both verbally and physically by a man who is 11 years older than me, I now live with the constant fear of being around and trusting men.” She added, “…today I want you to know that I will no longer let you or the horrendous things you did to me cross my mind, ever again.”
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the victim for her courage in coming forward to police about the abuse she endured, and for her moving Victim Impact Statement. She added, “I hope through her powerful impact statement the victim in this case can begin to heal.”
