THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – Danville Area Community College is proud to celebrate seven second-year Radiologic Technology students who recently attended a national educational conference hosted by the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology (ACERT).
Through dedicated fundraising efforts and participation in community service activities, these students earned the opportunity to represent DACC on a national stage. At the conference, they joined 488 radiography students from across the country in a competitive student challenge designed to test their knowledge and clinical readiness.
We are especially proud to announce that DACC student Shahd Shillo placed in the top 20 nationally—an outstanding achievement that reflects both individual commitment and the strength of DACC’s Radiologic Technology program.
The conference also provided advanced learning opportunities, including lectures presented by nationally recognized experts—many of whom authored the very textbooks our students use in the classroom. These experiences enhanced student understanding of imaging science and clinical practice, further preparing them for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification exam they will take following graduation in May.
“This national conference was an invaluable extension of classroom and clinical education,” said Tammy Howard, Senior Director of Medical Imaging. “Our students gained deeper insights, expanded their professional networks, and brought Jaguar pride to a national audience. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and achievement.”
Danville Area Community College offers an Associate in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology, a rigorous program combining classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and more than 1,300 hours of clinical education coordinated by experienced faculty. Graduates are prepared to sit for the ARRT certification exam and pursue careers as skilled radiologic technologists. In addition to Radiologic Technology, DACC’s Allied Health Division offers students multiple pathways in healthcare, including Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Echocardiography, and other medical imaging and health sciences programs.
