THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION PROVIDED BY HOOPESTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
Sixty-five year old Joseph Goodrun of Hoopeston is now facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, and failure to obey railroad signals after a pair of accidents on Friday, March 13th. After Goodrum had allegedly struck an occupied train at a railroad crossing by the Thompson Avenue grain elevator, authorities then learned of a previous accident in the 500 block of West Main, where Goodrun’s pickup truck had allegedly struck an unoccupied pickup truck.

Location#2: 500 blk W Main
Unit#2: White 2018 Chevrolet Pickup , Unoccupied
Unit#1: Black 2012 Ford Pickup, Driven by the Arrestee
Arrested: Joseph Goodrum (M) (65) of Hoopeston
Details: HPD and HFD were dispatched to location #1 for a vehicle (Unit#1) vs train accident. Mr. Goodrum was arrested after the refusal of EMS for the above (#1) charges and transported to the Hoopeston Police Department. HFD cleared and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Upon further investigation, prior to the arrest, Unit#2, parked in location #2 and unoccupied was struck by Mr. Goodrum in (Unit#1). Mr. Goodrum was processed and later released with NTA’s for all charges. No injuries were reported and Unit#1 was insured.
