If you were driving on Jackson Street between Winter and Chester late Tuesday morning, you may have looked twice as you approached a parked Danville Fire Department engine, with its lights on, spraying water on to the Edison School property. But it was not a fire. This was an annual visit by the Danville Fire Department towards the end of the school year, giving all of Edison’s K through 4 students a chance to run around in the water.
As the Danville Fire Department’s Lieutenant Shawn Pasley explains; they do this at other schools as well, and you just might find some opportunities to get sprayed in Danville parks over the summer.

AUDIO: They give us a call. And then towards the end of the school year, we put in on our calendar just to come and spray the kids. I know that there’s other schools that we do it for also; and then sometimes we’ll have events in the summertime, where we’ll go to a park. We’ll advertise it; people just come from all over town. And we’ll just spray them, and they have a good time. And we’ve even been known to run through the water ourselves.
Tuesday’s spraying at Edison School went from about 10 AM to 12:15.
