Summer Reading Challenge: Plant a Seed, Read! Grow your love of reading this summer and earn amazing prizes for all ages along the way! June 8: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Weekly gardening event for children and families. This week: Fireflies! 9:30 -10:30 AM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office.
June 8: Genealogy Workshop – @ IGHS*. Join us every 2nd Monday of the month for engaging sessions on family history research. Classes alternate between the Library and the Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society. This month: meet at IGHS – 215 W North St, Danville, IL 61832. 1:00 – 2:30 PM.
June 9: Diabetes Support Group. Looking for support in managing diabetes? In partnership with OSF Healthcare, join Illinois Extension for a monthly diabetes support group designed for individuals living with diabetes and their caregivers. June 9: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: Diamond Painting: create a masterpiece…piece by piece. While supplies last. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space. Intended for ages 13 – 19.
June 9: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the Program Room.
June 10: Celebrate! Join the Children’s Department each month to learn about and celebrate different cultures with stories and food. Join the fun as we celebrate our Summer Reading Program, Plant a Seed…READ! Listen to a story and taste fresh garden foods. Tasting will include fresh fruits and vegetables, green, red, yellow, orange, and more! 5:00 – 6:00 PM in the Program Room.
June 10: Free Summer Movie. Join us for Free Wednesday Movies at the Library, hosted by our Children’s Department every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in June and July! Families can enjoy a kid-friendly movie together, with free snacks and a drink available while supplies last. It’s the perfect way to cool off and relax this summer! 1:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
June 10: Teen Writing Club. We’ve got writing prompts and games to spark your imagination and snacks* to fuel your mind! *While supplies last. Come write, chill, and connect with other teen writers. No pressure, just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Wednesdays, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Teen Space.
June 10: Ukulele Music Club. Join the Ukulele Music Club every 2nd Wednesday for beginner basics at 5 PM and a group jam session at 6 PM – both welcoming all skill levels! Bring your own uke or borrow one of our limited extras and enjoy making music together. The club may even perform around the community! June 11: ESL Family Group – Lotería! Join our family-focused support group for those learning English as a second language. June 11: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Thursdays starting in April for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome. Bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 3:00 – 4:00 PM in the Program Room.

Beat the Summer Heat: Beginning June 1st, stop by the Children’s Department and make a bright, colorful summer visor. Choose a red, blue, yellow, pink, purple or orange visor and use stickers and markers to decorate your visor. One per child while quantities last.
