WESTVILLE — Of course, the highlight of the Balloons Over Vermilion festival is seeing the colorful hot-air balloons.
But for a pin collector like Gary Delhaye of Westville, it’s also getting his hands on the annual event pin.
“The first stop we make every year is to the souvenir tent where the pins are located,” Delhaye said. “I wait in anticipation to see the new design each year.”

This year will mark the 33rd lapel pin that he will add to his collection dating back to when the Danville Balloon Classic began in 1987 at the Vermilion Regional Airport, where it ran for 15 years.
This is the 10th anniversary for Balloons Over Vermilion. The new pin’s red, white and blue design has “Balloons Over Vermilion 2026” on it as well as the logo for this year’s theme of “10 Years Above and Beyond.”
