People v. Jeremy Lowenstein 2024-CF-163
On June 3, 2026, Jeremy Lowenstein (DOB: 5/5/1976), formerly of Oakwood, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, a class X felony, and was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, which will be served at 85%. Following his term of imprisonment, Lowenstein will serve a term of mandatory supervised release from 3 years to life, to be determined by the Prison Review Board. Lowenstein is classified as a sexual predator, requiring lifetime sex offender registration. The plea and sentencing hearing were presided over by Judge Karen Wall.
The People presented evidence that on July 25, 2023, deputies with the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Carle in Urbana for a sexual assault report. Upon arrival officers determined that the minor victim had disclosed to health professionals a sexual assault by Jeremy Lowenstein. A forensic interview was conducted at the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center who conducted the forensic interview of the victim. Lacy added, “This sentence holds this sexual predator accountable for the devastating choices he made and removes a dangerous offender from our community. Seeking justice for victims and protecting children remain among the highest priorities of my office.”
