DANVILLE, Ill. – Danville Area Community College will begin the new academic year under new athletic leadership as longtime Jaguars men’s basketball coach DaJuan Gouard takes on the role of Athletic Director. A Danville native and 15-year member of the DACC family, Gouard brings extensive experience, a strong connection to the community, and a proven record of success to the position. He will continue serving as head coach of the DACC men’s basketball team while overseeing the college’s nine athletic programs and approximately 120 student-athletes.
A 2001 graduate of Danville High School, Gouard continued his basketball career at Loyola University, where he played from 2001 to 2005. Following graduation, he played professionally in Austria and Croatia from 2006 to 2008 before continuing his career in Colombia, Chile, and Venezuela from 2008 to 2010.
Gouard joined Danville Area Community College 15 years ago and has served as head men’s basketball coach for the past 12 seasons. Under his leadership, the Jaguars have earned four NJCAA National Tournament appearances while compiling an impressive 245 victories.
For Gouard, the appointment as Athletic Director represents both a professional milestone and a personal homecoming.
“I am proud to be a Danvillian,” Gouard said. “The opportunity to lead our athletic department in the city where I was born and raised gives me complete gratification. Many people see me as a coach who gives everything to ensure our staff and student-athletes represent our institution the right way. What I also see are the endless opportunities to reach the next generation and show them that anything is possible.”
