Wednesday evening’s (Aug 19th) Danville District 118 School Board meeting included the approval of a new position at Danville High School, which will be known as “College and Career Coordinator.” As DHS principal Jacob Bretz explains, this person will be able to take what guidance counselors do when it comes to advising students for the future to the next level, concentrating solely on those topics; both college and career opportunities.
AUDIO: During the school day support, intensive support; to walk students through what is a very complicated process of applying to college, getting into college. (And) not only all that, but also coordinating with Vermilion Advantage and the Workforce Development Committee to intentionally to move past “career exposure,” to pairing students to career opportunities in a more targeted way.
District 118 Director of Human Resources Kim Pabst stated that the position will be posted immediately, and many have expressed interest.
