People v. Carlos Thomas, Jr. 2025-CF-831
On 8/12/2026, Carlos Thomas, Jr. (DOB:2/27/1996), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance, a class 1 felony. The defendant was sentenced to 5 ½ years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by 12 months mandatory supervised release. The plea and sentencing were presided over by Judge Mark S. Goodwin.
The People presented evidence that on October 30, 2025, agents with the Vermilion Metropolitan Enforcement Group and Illinois State Police conducted a search warrant on an apartment on Robinson Street in Danville. Law enforcement spoke to an occupant of the residence who stated
the defendant had sporadically lived in the apartment for a year. The occupant reported they had seen Carlos Thomas sell cocaine out of the apartment. During the execution of the search warrant, law enforcement recovered $647 United States Currency, 27 small baggies of suspected
cocaine packaged for individual sale with a total weight of 14 grams, 5 cell phones and a digital scale. The suspected cocaine was sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for analysis, and results returned positive for cocaine.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Vermilion Metropolitan Enforcement Group and the Illinois State Police for their thorough investigation, which helped remove illegal drugs from our community and hold this defendant accountable.
