ABOVE: Johnny Tsunami from Chicago Snowballs opponent the Rocket Squirrels Signs Autographs for Fans
For anyone who arrived after the Chicago Snowballs baseball entertainment snow had begun at Danville Stadium Saturday night, there was not a parking place in site, and hardly a seat available in the house. Cars were parked all over the grass far past the left field foul poll; and inside the stadium it was loud. Kids were running around all over and getting autographs not just from Snowballs players, but from their opponents the Rocket Squirrels. One of them, a teacher and salesman by trade who goes by Johnny Tsunami on the field, said it was great to have fans supporting the Rocket Squirrels. He said after all, the two teams aren’t enemies; just co-stars of the show.

AUDIO: It’s absolutely electric. We’ve already gotten Rocket Squirrel chants on our side. It’s all the fun of the competition. You see everything here, I know we play each other in the field; but we’re all one big family, and we love just to put on a great show and entertain the crowd.
Charlie came over from Urbana for the game and loved every second of it. He told us, he hopes the Snowballs and Rocket Squirrels come back next year.

AUDIO: (It’s) phenomenal, a lot of fun. Multi-generational, and it’s just a gas. A very good friend of mine heard about it and hooked us up. (So you’re going to come back next year?) Absolutely.
Chicago Snowballs player Raquan came into the crowd, danced with some fans, and told us he runs a clothing line during the week. But he loves being part of this baseball show.

AUDIO: My name is Raquan, but on the field I’m Ba-Ba-Que. I have a clothing brand called “Stack and Save, Inc.” My motto is…..to promote financial literacy to people in poverty. (How do you find time to play ball with all that?) You’ve got to find time to do what you love.
The Danville Dans’ Jeanie Cooke summed it all up, saying fans came out curious about what they’d see. And they certainly weren’t disappointed.
AUDIO: People had to come see what this is all about; and they’re having a great time tonight.
