If you are anywhere near the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville Thursday (August 27th, 2026), chances are you will smell the pancakes being cooked inside. The 76th annual Kiwanis Pancake Day is taking place with continuous serving from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Proceeds support numerous local youth programs.
Matthew Long is a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and says they are expecting a good turnout…
{AUDIO: “If you can avoid the rush hours, like lunch and dinner, come in a little earlier or little later, that usually works out a lot better. But we hope to have a pretty big crowd.”}
Long was asked what he thinks has kept the event going all these years….
{AUDIO: “I just it’s just…the participation by the community as well as the Kiwanian members. And we really, honestly, couldn’t run this Pancake Day without all the volunteers. We get a lot of volunteers from a lot of different organizations across the community. And, once again, without their help there’s no way we could do it.”}
Kiwanis Pancake Day has helped numerous local youth programs for years…
{AUDIO: “We had our Day of Giving about a month ago. But all the proceeds – last year we made about $20-thousand dollars. All that money stayed here locally. But there’s a lot of great organizations that we help support. Kiwanis is for the children, and by all means, that’s where we put all the profits – back toward the children of the community.”}
Tickets are 8 dollars at the door. (Pre-event packs of 4 tickets were sold for $30.) Again, there is continuous serving taking place at the Palmer Arena from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday (August 27th, 2026).
In past years Kiwanis Pancake Day was held later in the year. By holding it earlier it takes place before ice covers the floor for ice skating season.
