THE FOLLOWING IS AN INDIANA STATE POLICE RELEASE
Clinton County – Just before 6:30 a.m. on October 1, 2026, Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 65 northbound near the 157 mile marker in Clinton County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Chevrolet Express van was traveling northbound on Interstate 65 in the right lane while pulling a trailer. Preliminary information indicates the trailer became detached from the van, causing the van to leave the roadway and enter the east side ditch. The van subsequently rolled and came to rest on its side.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the passenger was believed to have not been wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office. The passenger’s identity will be released by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
The driver was identified as Alfredo Hernandez Manuel, 27, of Indianapolis. Manuel was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team. There is no further information available for release at this time.
Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Frankfort Police Department, Clinton County Coroner’s Office, Colfax Fire Department, and Clinton County EMS.
