Hilary Duff has released CATastrophe, a new original song created for the upcoming animated film The Cat in the Hat. The track arrived on October 2, 2026, along with a colorful music video inspired by the playful visual world associated with Dr. Seuss.
As part of the film’s official music rollout, the release introduces Duff’s contribution to the movie’s soundtrack ahead of its theatrical debut. Duff co-wrote CATastrophe with Matthew Koma, Madison Love, and Brian Phillips, with Koma and Phillips also handling production.
The song centers on the experience of having life suddenly shift in unexpected ways and dealing with circumstances that feel outside your control. Duff has also shared that the project carried a personal connection because Dr. Seuss books have been part of her family life.
CATastrophe will be included on the original motion picture soundtrack, scheduled for release October 30. The Cat in the Hat, featuring Bill Hader as the voice of the title character, is set to open in North American theaters and IMAX on November 6, 2026.
