THE FOLLOWING RELEASE IS FROM CONGRESSWOMAN MARY MILLER’S OFFICE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15) joined House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) in demanding answers from the Champaign County Clerk and Recorder following the abrupt suspension of early voting and serious ballot printing errors affecting nearly 600 ballots. These failures come amid a history of election administration problems in Champaign County.
“Champaign County has faced repeated election problems of their own making, and the Clerk’s office has consistently failed to get the basics right,” said Congresswoman Mary Miller. “This can no longer be brushed off as an isolated mistake. Voters deserve accountability and proof the Clerk’s office can run a reliable election in November.”
In their letter, Rep. Miller and Chairman Steil are demanding an explanation of the circumstances surrounding the ballot printing errors and suspension of early voting, including what corrective measures are being taken to prevent further disruptions.
