THE FOLLOWING RELEASE IS FROM STATE REP BRANDUN SCHWEIZER’S OFFICE
“Champaign County voters deserve immediate answers about what went wrong, how many voters were affected, and exactly what is being done to fix it.
“Aaron Ammons is already under federal indictment, and now voters are being asked to trust his office to clean up serious ballot errors. That is unacceptable. Voters deserve transparency and confidence that this process is being handled properly.
“The Illinois Attorney General’s Office should immediately provide independent oversight through the remainder of the election to ensure every vote is handled and counted correctly. Ammons should step aside from overseeing the response and allow that independent oversight to move forward.”
