DANVILLE — Hockey is back at the David S. Palmer Arena this weekend with three nights of action.
The Danville Flyers, an adult pickup hockey team that has joined the Colonial Hockey League, will take to the ice Friday and Saturday nights.
The new Danville Iron team will have its inaugural game at noon Sunday.
Arena General Manager Teri Gaffney said the Flyers games will continue to benefit local charities all season long, including Court Appointed Special Advocates on Friday and Zac Pearson, a Decatur Blaze player who is fighting cancer, on Saturday. However, instead of suggested donations, tickets will cost $5 for adults and will remain free for children 12 and under.
“The community has been generous,” Gaffney said, but even with the “tremendous crowds,” donations had “fell down a little bit.”
