THE FOLLOWING IS A NEWS-GAZETTE STORY BY JENNIFER BAILEY
ABOVE: Danville High School Cross Country Coach Matt Skovran, dressed as a pirate and on a bicycle, with the DHS Cross Country Team had its annual Halloween Costume Run on Monday. They started at the high school track and traveled north on Jackson and Washington streets and back on Vermilion Street. The student-athletes dressed as a high school cross country team this year, and had a longer run than usual due to junior Jazlynn Whorral, center, qualifying for sectionals. She will compete Saturday at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Skovran said the Halloween run “breaks up the monotony” of practices and “it’s fun.” The other runners were sophomores Laylana Parker and Blake Warfield, freshman Xxavyier Lewis and senior Zack Rummer.
