A Danville native who recently returned home has been sworn in as a new Danville Probationary Police Office. Jose Munoz will soon begin training after being sworn in during a Friday morning (Aug 23rd) ceremony at City Hall. Munoz had been working down south in Houston as a locomotive engineer. But upon returning, he wanted to try something different.
AUDIO: I just felt like I had to make a change here. If I’m coming back over here, it’s for a reason, to promise that I wanted to be something here in Danville.
Jose Munoz sworn in by Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; Munoz receiving his badge from Chief Yates; Munoz congratulated by Danville Police and Fire Board; Munoz with Chief Yates and Mayor Williams.
Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates says once he was approached by Munoz, he liked what he saw and heard.
AUDIO: He stood out for many things. But probably the biggest, his personality and his character. That’s where we start. We want good human beings first; we’ll teach them how to be good police officers.
Munoz is a 2010 graduate of Danville High School.
