September is Hunger Action Month, and Tuesday the 10th is HUNGER ACTION DAY. The Eastern Illinois Foodbank’s Sophie Becker is reminding everyone that a great way to show support on Hunger Action Day, or anytime during this special month; is to do something quite popular with Fighting Illini fans: WEAR ORANGE! That’s because orange is the color of hunger awareness.
Becker says it is even more important right now, because food pantries are in need.
AUDIO: Our pantries are currently serving 90% more people now than in 2022. So everything people can do to help us out makes a huge difference.
Becker says please donate to your local food pantry and help support the MILLION MEALS CHALLENGE, with the goal of providing ONE MILLION MEALS to our communities. Go online to www.eifoodbank.org; and remember that every dollar donated provides three meals to a neighbor.
In addition, please remember that this Saturday, September 14th; the Eastern Illinois Foodbank foodmobile is making a distribution stop from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Mark Denman Elementary School. See below for more:
Eastern Illinois Foodbank Announces “Foodmobile” Food Giveaway in Danville, IL
Danville, IL – Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) is distributing food to area families facing food insecurity. The distribution will be held at Mark Denman Elementary School (930 Colfax St.) in Danville, Illinois on 09/14/2024 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM and is open to residents of Vermilion County. Those attending are asked to bring boxes or bags to transport food.
The distribution is part of the Foodbank’s Foodmobile Program, a system of mobile food pantries designed to help bring nutritious food to rural or underserved areas. Those planning to attend should pre-register at www.EIFclient.com, although doing so does not guarantee a place in line.
