Danville, IL, October 10, 2024 – The Danville Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is excited to present their first Halloween Spooktacular concert in the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium at Danville High School.
On Saturday, October 26 at 7 pm, Maestro Matthew Sheppard will lead the DSO and Danville High School (DHS) Orchestra in the first side-by-side Halloween Spooktacular concert. Musical selections for this concert include Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, Elfman’s Nightmare Before Christmas Suite, and many more Halloween-themed pieces.
“This year we have added a concert to our season to allow students to show off their many years of experience playing in orchestra,” said DSO Board President and DHS Orchestra Director, Gage Womack. “Student involvement with the DSO has evolved over the years, and for the first time, they will be featured on October 26th.”
Patrons are invited to dress in costume and take part in the costume contest and parade prior to the concert at 6:30 pm. Students and adults of all ages are invited to participate and can register at www.danvillesymphony.org/halloween-spooktacular. Students 17 and under may register for $5 and adults 18+ for $25 with admission to the concert included.
Other events will be happening at the Danville High School campus prior to the Spooktacular. DHS and the American Legion will host a trunk or treat from 1-3 pm. The DHS Orchestra will have their Halloween event from 3-6 pm, which includes trick or treating on the 1st floor of the high school and middle and high school orchestra performances in the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium. Food trucks will be available throughout the afternoon and evening.
