Hoopeston will be seeing a new mayor.
Newcomer Tracy Carter defeated incumbent Mayor Jeff Wise by a 61 to 38 percent margin.
Carter received 445 votes to Wise’s 282 votes.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what changes we can make in our community,” Carter said Tuesday night.
Carter, who works for Silgan Containers in Hoopeston, wanted to provide some new views and wants to look at infrastructure, and bringing in new business to Hoopeston to help with growth and revenue.
It was a closer race in Georgetown as its incumbent mayor pulled out another win, and in Westville current trustee Troy Strebin beat out challengers Darin Troglia and Nick Pierce to be that village’s next mayor.
Strebin received 53 percent to Troglia’s 43 percent of the vote in Westville.
For Westville trustee, Gary Delhaye, Jeff Ellis and Chris Gallion received the most votes. Delhaye received 346 votes, Ellis received 291 votes and Gallion received 277 votes, of seven candidates.
“I am elated to say the least and very humbled by the trust and support that the village of Westville gave me in this election,” Delhaye said. “I will work hard for all citizens of our village and always for the betterment of our community.”
In Georgetown, Mayor Darin Readnour received 51.59 percent of the vote to challenger Darren Alexander’s 48.41 percent.
For Oakwood trustee, the top three vote getters were Cathi Fritz with 117 votes, Robert Woodard with 112 votes and Ferrell Stroh with 99 votes, of seven candidates.
