Technically, she grew up a Hoosier — five miles to the northeast in State Line, Ind. — but you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger cheerleader for the city of Danville than ASHTON GREER.
Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. is a fan, publicly thanking Greer a year ago for “continuing to breathe life back into the community” as Danville’s community relations administrator — leading the city’s rebranding efforts, organizing First Friday events and writing a popular series of “I am, you are, we are” profiles about her Vermilion County neighbors.
Greer and her mom, Shawn Davis, cofounded a commercial property management company — Fred & Ma LLC — focused on revitalizing downtown Danville. Between their first project, First Place Coworking Space on North Vermilion Street, and their restoration of two other historic sites downtown, their properties now host 10 Danville businesses.
For her next act, the on-the-go mother of three, licensed Realtor and organizational leadership consultant is reviving Danville’s entertainment scene as executive director of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation and the historic Fischer Theatre.
