CATLIN — The home floor of Salt Fork Storm basketball will bear the name of a beloved assistant coach who was on the bench for the program’s lone state title — and hundreds of other games.
The school board this week unanimously signed off on making “Lou Hinkle Court” the new name of the high school gym floor, honoring the local legend who died in April at age 73.
Members of Mr. Hinkle’s family — including wife Laurie and daughter Lacey — were on hand for the vote.
“While Coach Hinkle loved the game and the community, his true passion was the student-athletes,” Salt Fork Superintendent Phil Cox said. “It is impossible to fully measure the impact he had on generations of students in our district.
