DANVILLE — Less than two years after the Vermilion County Delinquent Tax Sale Trustee pilot program started between the Vermilion County Board and Vermilion Advantage, it’s being concluded by mutual agreement.
The Vermilion County Board Tuesday night approved discontinuing the partnership, meaning the loss of a position with Vermilion Advantage and the untangling of financials for the county to get back what it’s entitled, said Board Chairman Steve Miller.
Miller said the partnership started when former Vermilion Advantage President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Marron and Vermilion County Treasurer Darren Duncan, “put their heads together and thought they were going to make a better world.”
Vermilion County Trustee Director Mike Levin was then hired to oversee the joint program.
But Miller said, “not everybody got along with themselves.”
Miller said now there is a new Vermilion Advantage leader, Amy Brown, and he, Duncan and Vermilion County Board Finance/Personnel Committee Chairman Jerry Hawker had discussions with her and Vermilion Advantage’s Executive Board about the program.
“To put it bluntly, the Vermilion Advantage organization does not see this as part of their core mission of accomplishing,” Miller said about the economic and workforce development organization and chamber of commerce for the county.
Many county board members believe it would be better for the relationship to end on the “most cordial means possible,” he too said.
