DANVILLE — After 43 years in medicine, roughly 32 of them in various positions at Carle Health, Dr. Tim Meneely is calling it a career.
The man who started as a Navy doctor says one of the things he’s most proud of is the progress made toward improving generational health outcomes in Vermilion County, though it will take decades to fully realize the results.
“We are blessed in this profession to get to do something that matters,” Meneely said. “And so, I think that’s the biggest thing is, and some days don’t feel like it, but every day you get to do something that’s really going to matter to somebody.
“I’m very grateful for a most unanticipated career here; every five to eight years I seemed to have been doing something different, sometimes multiple somethings,” he said, about working with the new medical school curriculum, population health, residency and management, and “teaching has always been a lot of fun.”
He said he plans to keep his affiliation with the Carle Illinois College of Medicine and do something with that.
