Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr has confirmed with CIMG that at the end of the business day on Wednesday (Aug 19th), the interior portion of the Village Mall closed until further notice due to conditions.
Mayor Williams stated that the city came to an agreement with the current owner of the interior portion; Grace Ren and Parkson Development LLC of Florida; after city fire, building code, and public works officials visited the mall earlier on Wednesday. Mayor Williams stated that despite the dangerous conditions from significant water damage this summer, he believes that Grace Ren is doing the best she can; as she is “currently in dispute with the interior mall portion’s previous owner, Jimmy Virk, and Virk’s insurance agent.”
Virk continues to own Ross Dress for Less and Pet Supplies Plus; and those stores currently remain open. Another outer mall store, County Market, did close recently due to significant roof and water damage.
Slumberland Furniture and Shoe Sensation, both owned by Slumberland; are also still open.
