ABOVE: Kirchner Building Centers President Drake Kirchner is joined by fellow team members Friday morning to cut the ribbon for their new Danville Location at 920 North Gilbert Street.
Kirchner Building Centers has now officially completed their move from 508 West Williams to 920 North Gilbert with Friday morning’s (Aug 21st) 9 AM ribbon cutting. Regional Vice-President Torey Rein recalled how once it was known that Goodwill would be moving to their 1507 North Bowman location, the Kirchner team was able to sit down and talk with the property’s owners at the time.
AUDIO: You know we’d been in an older facility for many, many years. (This is a) Beautiful, beautiful building. We just tried to get a hold of the owners to see if they were willing to sell. I think they were first wanting to lease. But hey, we got excited when they said they would go ahead and sell. And then the city worked with us on the facilities to the north.

From the City of Danville’s point of view, Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk recalled that over a half decade ago, when the Williams Street realignment came into play, there was talk about Kirchner moving. And when Goodwill was likely looking for a new location, things started to roll.
AUDIO: About four years ago, we started putting pen to paper, and figuring out “where does Kirchner want to go,” first of all. And then second, once this location was decided upon, “how are we going to make it a good commercial corridor.”
And then, the city got busy purchasing some properties north of the old Goodwill location for the storage room that would be needed. Just prior to the ribbon cutting, Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr said it was great to see all the teamwork pay off.
AUDIO: You know the Kirchner family has invested over $6 million in this community. They’ve increased their staff. And they’re going to be able to serve more Danville and Vermilion County citizens. So this is a project that’s been worth waiting for.

For company president Drake Kirchner; now, a new era begins.
AUDIO: Danville’s been home for us since ’96. We’re proud to invest in that community. We’re proud to be a part of the community. Our goal is to be small enough to know that you came by. Small enough to take care of you, but big enough to have what you need.
