Thursday’s (Aug 27th) annual Kiwanis Pancake Day at the David S. Palmer Arena not only featured local Kiwanians keeping busy cooking and serving, but visiting Kiwanians as well. One of them was David Butler from Tuscola, who said it was his third time at Danville’s Kiwanis Pancake Day.
AUDIO: Four of us came up from Tuscola; just helping another Kiwanis Club. Three of them are having breakfast, and I’m having coffee; and as soon as we’re done we’re going to start doing some work. We’re in the same division, so we’re just helping another club.
Kiwanis is known for raising money to help the kids, and if you were there in the late breakfast-heading into lunch hour period, you saw just one great example of that. A lot of youngsters dressed in blue and white were helping out on the floor; members of The Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin High School Key Club. And their own sponsor, Jeff Beukelman, was helping cook the pancakes.
AUDIO: I am the Key Club sponsor at the high school, and so I have 18 students that are Key Clubbers out here who are helping the Kiwanis. The Danville Noon Kiwanis is our sponsor club.
Pancakes were to be served until 8 PM Thursday evening.
