September Beanstack Reading Challenge: All the Right Notes! This September, celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with our Beanstack reading challenge! Log your reading minutes at least once a week to complete the challenge for a chance to win our All the Right Notes Giveaway Basket. Find your rhythm. September 21: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be learning about apples! 4:30 PM in the Program Room.
September 22: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: INKspiration Bookmarks – destress with mindful doodles and designs. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space. Intended for ages 13 – 19.
September 22: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the Program Room.
September 23: Dementia Resource Group. Join Synergy HomeCare and Villas of Holly Brook on the 4th Wednesday of each month. This welcoming gathering offers education, support, and conversation for individuals living with dementia, caregivers, loved ones, and community members, with a new topic each month, opportunities to share experiences, and light refreshments provided. 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
September 23: How to Sell Out a Haunted Theater: An Evening with Grady Hendrix. How often does a small town get the chance to host a New York Times bestselling author? Join us for a free evening with horror novelist Grady Hendrix, author of How to Sell a Haunted House, The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A, meet the author, and purchase books from Boxcar Books & Vinyl, as time allows. Doors open at 6:00 PM at the historic Fischer Theatre, 158 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61832.
September 23: Teen Writing Club. We’ve got writing prompts and games to spark your imagination and snacks* to fuel your mind! *While supplies last. Come write, chill, and connect with other teen writers. No pressure, just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Wednesdays, 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space.
September 24: Carrie-oke with DLO! Love to sing? Love Stephen King? Join us for a karaoke session with special guests from DLO Musical Theatre’s Carrie: The Musical! Grab the mic, belt out your favorite tunes, and meet the talented cast bringing this cult classic to life! Just try not to bring down the house with your powers. 5:00 – 6:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.

September 25: Midday Movie. Celebrate a true icon with us on 9-2-5, 2026. On this unofficial Dolly Day, watch the late Ms. Parton with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin decide they’ve had enough of their overbearing boss in a classic office comedy. Enjoy a little laughter while honoring Dolly’s unforgettable charm and passion. Feel free to bring your lunch, if needed! 12:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
September 26: Be a Character – Workshop. Ever wanted to bring someone from the past alive? Join award-winning actress and historian Leslie Goddard for a workshop on the basics of creating and presenting a historical portrayal. We’ll explore topics ranging from choosing a character and creating a script to body language and voice. You’ll leave knowing the basics of how to research, analyze and bring to life a character from the past. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to explore and have fun. 1:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
September 26: Pizza Party. Who will be crowned the favorite, Cheese or Pepperoni?! Be sure to register online or with the children’s department to attend the pizza party to find out. You can vote for your favorite pizza topping all month in the Children’s Department. 1:00 PM in the Program Room.
September 26: Story Time. Have a great time listening, interacting to stories and making a fun craft! Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.

American Conversation Project: We’re partnering with the American Conversation Project to record community conversations to be part of the National Public ACP Collection, marking the 250th Anniversary of the Nation.
