ABOVE: Parks Livestock is proposing another hog facility near Potomac.
POTOMAC — An informational public meeting is scheduled for next week to answer questions about Parks Livestock in Oakwood’s proposed hog facility near Potomac.
The Vermilion County Board requested that the Illinois Department of Agriculture conduct the meeting, after the board was asked to do so by resident Carl Phillips.
The facility is proposed to be located approximately three miles northeast of Potomac.
Phillips said this would be less than three-quarters of a mile from his family farm.
He said he’s not opposed to it and supports livestock, but being a north county neighbor, he wants to make sure the facility is completed “environmentally the correct way.”
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the second-floor county board chambers of the Joseph G. Cannon Building, 201 N. Vermilion St., Danville.
