OAKWOOD — It’s homecoming week for the Oakwood school district, and that means the return of a unique parent Swap Day experience that allows them to take part in their children’s classes and really feel what it’s like to be a high schooler in today’s world.
Principal Zach Steele said Wednesday’s Swap Day at Oakwood High School is a school tradition that celebrated its 50th year this week.
“Swap Day is a special opportunity for parents, guardians and family members to step into the shoes of a student and experience a day at school from their perspective. Family members come in to participate in their child’s daily schedule, attending classes such as math, science, band, physical education and more,” he said.
The concept: when a parent, guardian or family member comes in to represent their child for the day, that student is excused from attending school and can spend the day at home.
