With Covington’s 35th Apple Fest ready to go at 9 AM this Saturday (Sept 26th) in Downtown Covington, CIMG Ag Director Gale Cunningham was able to sit down with Apple Fest Chair and Autumn Fields Regional Director of Marketing Amy Thompson. One thing Amy mentioned was that Apple Fest is so popular, sometimes it’s hard to fit everyone in!
AUDIO: We have over 130 vendors. We still have people reaching out daily trying to get in. And it hurts my heart not to be able to accommodate them, but we don’t have anywhere else to pack anyone into at this point.
Thompson mentioned that a couple special families will be on everyone’s minds this year. For one thing, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is scheduled to stop by when the Coffing family is honored at 1:30 PM Saturday; as the Coffing Brothers Orchard continues to provide up to 40 varieties of apples on 1,400 acres each year.
AUDIO: Without Coffing Brothers, obviously, there would not be an Apple Fest. So, for 35 years, the Coffing family and the Covington Business Association have partnered together; so we wanted to honor them.
Meanwhile, lots of people will certainly have their minds on the memory of Ronald Crowder, whose services are on Saturday.
AUDIO: The Crowder family has always been so involved in, not only the Apple Fest, but the Covington community. His services are on Saturday. But we are just going to honor him as much as we can, and their family.
And don’t forget, Apple Fest may start at 9 AM, but you can start your day at 7 AM with a special breakfast at the fire station.
AUDIO: The businesses there, they have been gearing up. We partnered with the school; the art students, they have decorated the windows. Vendors galore, food galore, a car show. And always, I encourage people to start out at the Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast, which is from 7 to 10 AM at the fire station.
