ABOVE: Danville District 118 Superintendent John Hart addresses the District 118 School Board during a meeting in April of this year.
It was this past Thursday, September 24th that Danville District 118’s Superintendent John Hart and members of the District 118 Board attended a Tilton Village Board meeting. The purpose of this visit was for discussion about TIF (Tax Increment Financing) Districts, in which revenue from increases in the designated district’s property tax values are reinvested for development purposes within the district itself; rather than being distributed to taxing bodies, such as school districts.
The goal mentioned by Hart and District 118 Director of Finance Todd Pence has been to reach agreements with both Tilton and Danville that would allow District 118 to obtain not all, but some of the funding the district has lost over the years to current TIF districts.
Superintendent Hart told CIMG on Monday that the session on Thursday with Tilton Mayor Bill Wear and the Village Board was “a good discussion.” And that District 118 is “currently waiting to hear back about a possible sharing formula.”
Hart concluded that Thursday’s meeting showed it was “obvious that both parties share a passion for education.”
