THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On September 29, 2026 at approximately 4:51 p.m., an officer with the Street Crimes Unit observed a 16-year-old male walking in the area of Main Street and State Street. The officer knew the juvenile had previous charges for fleeing on foot from a prior traffic stop.
The officer attempted to get out with the juvenile and he fled on foot again. After a brief foot pursuit, the juvenile was located on a porch in the unit block of Bremer Avenue. While being taken into custody, the officer observed the juvenile throw a loaded firearm.
The juvenile was arrested and booked on the charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
During the investigation it was discovered that the juvenile was currently on probation stemming from a previous arrest where he was in possession of a firearm.
All subjects are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
