DANVILLE, IL – On Thursday, October 1, 2026, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Danville Police responded to the 300 block of E. Main Street for a report of a train striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers located a 64-year-old Danville man who had sustained injuries after being struck by the train.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the railroad crossing signals were activated and flashing red when the man attempted to cross the tracks and was struck by the train.
The victim was transported by medical personnel to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The incident is being investigated by the Danville Police Department and Norfolk Southern. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.
