Danville Alderman and mayoral candidate Doug Ahrens held at 6 PM meeting for Ward One and Two residents; Monday (Oct 5th) night in a David S. Palmer Arena community room. Ahrens explained to CIMG what his campaign has scheduled for the rest of the Mondays in October.
AUDIO: Next Monday, the 12th, we go out to Harrison Park Clubhouse for Wards Five and Six. We then jump out to DACC (on the 19th), for the Bremer Center, Wards Three and Four. And the final wrap up is on the 26th at Turtle Run for Ward Seven. And we’re looking for great turnout from everybody, to get a good idea on what their thoughts are.
Ahrens says going back to when he was Danville Director of Public Works, Ward meetings were a regular City of Danville item. Ahrens says he’d really like to bring those back.
AUDIO: A little bit different than a neighborhood association meeting. I don’t want those two to get confused. Neighborhood Associations are very important, and we need more of them. But the ward meetings should discuss significant issues. Things like funding for the library; things like how we pay for fire stations; things like what are the priorities for the casino funds.
Ahrens is running for mayor against incumbent Rickey Williams, Jr; Alderwoman Tricia Teague, the Reverend Frank McCullough, and former Danville Police Officer Dennis Witsman.
