No injuries were reported from an explosion and fire inside Lebanon Chemical Corporation at 508 West Ross Lane in Danville; shortly after 9:30 AM Thursday (Oct 8) morning. Tilton Deputy Fire Chief Butch Fields told CIMG that the explosion came from a heat processor processing chemicals, and that the east side of the building and some nearby residences were briefly evacuated because that’s the direction where the smoke was briefly headed. The environmental all clear was given shortly before 11 AM.

AUDIO: Our crews arrived on the scene, went in, and were able to shut all the machines down that were still running. They were able to get the fire out; as well as the sprinkler system did its job. All firefighters that have entered the building have gone through decontamination, and also through medical to make sure everything is good with that.
Speaking with CIMG shortly after 11 AM, Deputy Chief Fields stated that the road right outside the plant would remain closed much of the rest of the day. He said inspectors would continue their investigative work; and once the fire department completes their investigation and leaves the scene for good, it will be up to Lebanon when they continue operations.
