The Danville Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the shooting incident that took place on 10/06/26 in the 2300 block of N Vermilion.
On 10/07/26 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Malik A. Bowels, 19, of Danville was taken into custody without incident in the 2300 block of N. Vermilion by members of the Danville Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigations Division. Bowels is currently being held on initial charges of aggravated battery-use of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon-possession of a handgun under the age of 21.
This incident remains under investigation. No other information will be released at this time.

ORIGINAL RELEASE
The Danville Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on 10/06/26 in the 2300 block of N. Vermilion Street.
On October 6, 2026, at approximately 11:19 p.m., officers with the Danville Police Department were dispatched to the 2300 block of N. Vermilion Street for several 911 calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 19-year-old female with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The female was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
