Rose McGowan will not be voting for Joe Biden. The #MeToo activist hit up Twitter as he clinched the Democratic nomination for president, writing: “You are the season of darkness. @JoeBiden @dnc You are monsters. You are frauds. You are the lie.”
She appeared to be referencing Biden’s acceptance speech in which he pledged to be “an ally of the light and not the darkness” and told Americans “united we can, and overcome.”
Later, she slammed Democrats more generally: “What have the Democrats done to solve ANYTHING? Help the poor? No. Help black & brown people? No. Stop police brutality? No. Help single mothers? No. Help children? No. You have achieved nothing. NOTHING. Why did people vote Trump? Because of you motherf******.”
Critics responded immediately. One tweeted: “Rose McGowan is the perfect example of why trauma doesn’t necessarily make you a good advocate. Advocacy requires work and not just centering ones own experience.”
Her former Charmed co-star Alyssa Milano responded with 20+ examples of the party’s accomplishments. “Rose and anyone bleating the same “dEmOcRaTs DoNt HeLp PeOpLe” nonsense, your lies are going to hurt people less privileged than you. It’s the kind of thing an ACTUAL fraud would do. Thousands of people are dying a day but you go on with your hyperbolic attention seeking tweets,” Milano tweeted Friday.
McGowan then responded to critics, tweeting: “I love the a***s saying ‘white feminist’ I’m one by accident, and the other not at all. Vote for whomever you want to vote for, but don’t kid yourself that one is better morally.”
To Milano specifically, she said: “You threw a fit in front of the crew, yelling, ‘They don’t pay me enough to do this s–t!’ Appalling behavior on the daily. I cried every time we got renewed because you made that set toxic AF. Now, get off my coattails you f–king fraud.”
McGowan was one of the most prominent celebs to call Biden out over sexual assault allegations put forward by a former staffer Tara Reade. Biden denied the allegations.
But she’s no Donald Trump supporter either. In 2016, she wrote: “Living with your daily reign of terror cancer, and it is terror cancer, is something we are unwilling to do for another minute. I do not want to live my life this way. I am a proud AMERICAN & GLOBAL CITIZEN who's sic head is bowed to her knees in because she is sickened every day. Because of you. It is NOT most of America who should be ashamed, it is YOU for propagating this propaganda.”
