The six Vermilion County officials who were elected last month were sworn in this morning to officially begin their four-year terms in office.
Among them is a first-time office holder, Erika Briggs (pictured), who was unopposed in the general election for the position of county auditor. Briggs has been with the county since 2017 and previously served as financial resources director. Outgoing auditor Bill Wright did not seek reelection.
Also sworn in to new terms Tuesday morning were circuit clerk Melissa Quick, coroner Jane McFadden, recorder Dave Stone, regional schools superintendent Aaron Hird and state’s attorney Jacqueline Lacy. Quick and Hird are beginning their first elected terms in office after being appointed to their respective posts in June.
