The Danville City Council Public Services Committee has approved, pending vote by the full council, an intergovernmental agreement between the Danville Police and Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness, to be used as an Alternative Comprehensive Community Based Youth Service. Police Chief Christopher Yates explained following Tuesday (April 23rd) evening’s committee meeting that recently the police came across a situation where a young child needed a place to stay for the night. And in cases like that, it’s good to know where you can turn.
AUDIO: What it does is it give us options and understandings of responsibilities and resources that we have, whenever we run into a situation that’s challenging; whether it be a lockout, or runaway, or even a ‘located missing.’
Meanwhile, pending the background check and other necessities, Chief Yates mentioned that a conditional offer has been made to a candidate from South Carolina for the new Crime Intel Analyst position.
AUDIO: And what they’re going to be doing is not just collecting the data, but actually creating workable information where we can actually put it into our resources. And that can go anywhere from our investigative resources, control resources, resource allocation, and so on.
Chief Yates also mentioned the continued progress of the updated Friendly Town in Lincoln Park; with both the special preview weekend May 4th and 5th, and the scheduled full reopening in early June. In addition, the new police training facility in the Public Works building has been in use since the start of April, and should be complete for public viewing in June.
