A 30-year-old Danville man has been arrested for allegedly beating his father to death during an argument.
Danville Police Commander Josh Webb says that Darrius Bryant is being held in the Public Safety Building on charges of murder and aggravated battery.
Webb says officers responded to the 1000-block of National Street around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday in reference to a physical dispute. He says they found 55-year-old Robert Bryant lying unconscious on the ground and bleeding from his face and head. The older Bryant was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he later died.
During their investigation, officers learned that Robert and Darrius Bryant had been involved in a dispute that had turned into a physical argument, which led to Robert Bryant being beaten and left unconscious.
Darrius Bryant’s bond has been set at $1 million.
