THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On 11/08/23 around 5:17 pm, Danville Police responded to the area of the 900 block of N. Hazel Street for a report of shots fired in the area. Officers investigated the initial report and checked the area but were unable to locate a victim or suspects at the scene.
At approximately 6:01 pm, Danville Police responded to the OSF Emergency Room for a report of a male victim seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. Officers responded to the ER and spoke with a 16-year-old male victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg. The victim stated he was walking in the area of the 900 block of Hazel Street when he observed a black colored sedan slow down near him and an unknown person fired shots from the vehicle.
The victim was struck by the gunfire and then left the scene before later responding to the ER for medical treatment. No further vehicle or suspect information is currently available and no other injuries were reported during this incident.
The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
