Danville Light Opera is getting ready for their presentation of A CHRISTMAS STORY. DLO’s Jerry Strain recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program; along with Silas VanCamp, who plays Ralphie Parker; and Marshall Gooch, who plays Randy Parker. The show has about 30 cast members and around 13 youngsters; and Strain says that while directing this show, he’s had little need to get creative in helping the young actors remember their lines.
AUDIO: All the kids we have had in the show have been really awesome with learning their lines on their own. And have been super, just have been pros, with every part of the process.
As proof of that, Silas offered the line where Ralphie lets everyone know exactly what he wants for Christmas.
AUDIO: An official red rider, carbine action 200 shot range model air rifle; with a compass in the stock, and this thing that tells time.
Marshall offered one of his lines as Randy as well.
AUDIO: Meat loaf’s meat loaf. Double beet loaf. I hate meat loaf.
Jerry Strain says this will be the story everyone knows, with some great songs added. And Marshall Gooch says, just come see for yourself!
AUDIO: Take it from me, go and watch the show!
DLO’s presentation of A Christmas Story will be at Danville High School’s Dick Van Dyke Auditorium; Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th at 7:30; and Sunday afternoon the 19th at 2:30.
