A special workshop, hosted by the City of Danville and Danville Mass Transit, is set for Thursday evening November 16th, 5:30 to 7 PM in the Danville City Council Chambers.
The topic will be how to become certified as a DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise). As Danville Mass Transit Director Lisa Beith explained to Neuhoff Media; when you do business with vendors who are from a minority, female, or veterans group owned business; you can meet your DBE goals. And in the long run, you can end up doing more business locally, and building more local business relationships. But Beith says not enough vendors that would qualify know how to become DBE certified, or even if they would qualify. That’s why local small business owners have been invited to this workshop.
AUDIO: Unfortunately, in this area, there are not a lot of vendors who are certified to be DBE vendors. So, we decided that we would put a workshop together. And we have a contractor by the name of Melissa Hamilton, who is contracted through the state, to work with vendors to teach them how to become DBE vendors; DBE certified I should say.
The registration for this workshop did close on Friday, November 10th. But if you’d like to see if they can fit you in, contact Lisa Beith at Danville Mass Transit or Sandra Finch at the City of Danville. Once again, this will be at 5:30 PM, on Thursday the 16th, in the Danville Municipal Building.
