THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Wednesday evening 1/17/24 around 10:55 p.m. members of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Police Unit, along with the assistance of members of the Danville Police Department Community Housing Unit, stopped a vehicle in the area of Fairchild and Section Streets for traffic violations.
During the process of the traffic stop, two subjects exited the vehicle and ran on foot after it stopped. Both subjects were quickly taken into custody by P.O.P. officers and both were identified as juveniles. Two firearms were located during the incident and investigation, and both subjects are being held on charges including Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a stolen firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
Through the proactive police investigations that DPD special units are afforded, the P.O.P. and C.H.U. units continue to reduce the fear of crime for the community and the City of Danville while supporting the Vision, Values, and Mission of the Danville Police Department.
