With Danville Light Opera Musical Theatre’s “Evolution of Broadway” show coming up this weekend (Feb 15th – Feb 18th), co-director Jeanne Dunn recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program to explain how the whole thing came about.
Dunn stated that it all began with something happening on Thursday nights with Mad Goat Coffee’s southern location.

AUDIO: Bailey Thompson, who is one of the co-directors of this show, started working with Mad Goat Coffee, who is one of the sponsors of the show, to do “coffee houses” at their south location. They just have developed into quite a wonderful event. So she and (co-director) Mackenzie Kizer came to the board with an idea, “Why don’t we take the coffee house mainstage? Why don’t we create show, based on the coffee houses?”
And hence, the idea for this weekend’s show at the Danville Area Community College Bremer Center was born. “Evolution of Broadway,” featuring three different directors with three different eras, will be this Friday and Saturday night at 7:30, and Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for students. Also on the schedule is the Thursday night at 7:30 preview show; which you can attend, $10 for adults and $5 for students.
