THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Monday morning 2/19/24 around 11:30 a.m. members of the Danville Police Department Emergency Response Unit responded to the unit block of Stroup Street in Danville and executed a knock-and-announce search warrant obtained with the assistance of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.
During the incident, ERU was assisted by members of the Community Housing Unit and Criminal Investigations Division. Officers arrested 40-year-old Lafayette Harper on an outstanding warrant. After an investigation, Harper was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Restraint, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. All charges were developed from a complaint and investigation conducted by both Danville patrol officers and detectives.
The Danville Police Department would like to remind the public that all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
