THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of N. Vermilion Street on Tuesday evening 3/26/24 at about 7 p.m. Officers received an anonymous report that a male subject inside of a business had a firearm. A description of the person was given to police officers who were able to locate the person inside the business.
The person was stopped and identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile attempted to run away from officers and was eventually detained. Officers investigated the complaint and recovered a stolen handgun in the possession of the juvenile. The juvenile was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, obstructing and resisting a police officer, possession of a stolen firearm, and aggravated battery to a police officer.
The Danville Police Department would like to thank the public for seeing something and saying something. The information provided assists DPD in rendering quality of life to our community. The Danville Police Department appreciates the confidence given when safety issues such as this are reported.
